Behind Every Cloud
"…the way the piano is being played feels like the way that Jimi Hendrix plays the guitar. There is so much going on, just for this starting out as piano sounds. But the big strings come into this as well, lending it some classical undertones, while the overall feeling could even stretch into the blues. Most importantly though, it is to note that this song has soul.”

"I composed this piece about eight winters ago shortly after my grandfather passed away. I’m a spiritual person, and I could sense the response in nature. For about a week or two after his passing, I remember the sun shining very vividly in the sky. Once I looked out my window on a stormy day and the clouds were dark but the sun was shining brightly behind them.
That visual struck me and inspired this song, Behind Every Cloud. I felt that was like a metaphor for what happened when my grandfather passed, with the dark clouds being the mourning and the sun signifying the love and peace that he is in and that we can also receive here."
"The twinkly piano arpeggios that signify rain or snow were recorded in real time. I recorded for hours until my arm would hurt and I’d physically have to stop and resume the next day! This actually started out as just a beat piano piece. But I also love beat strings music, and now that I have more realistic strings sounds compared to when I originally composed it, I just had to experiment with adding a melody overtop. I’m so glad I did!"
